The scripture I am using for this question is 1 John 5:13-14. “I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of GOD, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” My question for this scripture is, How does GOD talk to people?

This scripture is telling us that GOD hears us when we talk to him. When I think about asking GOD for anything, this sounds like having a relationship with GOD. For me when are in a relationship with someone, both of you talk to each other. As I searched the scriptures for my answer of how GOD talks to people, I found several different ways.

Angels talking to us.

Acts 12:6-8 says. “The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate. Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. Then the angel told him. “Get dressed and out on your sandals.” And he did. “Now put on your coat and follow me.” The angel ordered.” Revelation 1:1-2 says. “This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which GOD gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John, who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the Word of GOD and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

GOD talks thru scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 say’s. “All scripture is inspired by GOD and is useful to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. GOD uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” Hebrews 4:12 says. “For the word of GOD is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between dial and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

GOD talks to us in visions and dreams.

Acts 9:10-12 says, “Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The LORD spoke to him in a vision, calling “Ananias!” “Yes LORD!” he replied.” Matthew 1:20 says. “As he considered this, an angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “Do not be afraid to take Marry as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit talks to us for GOD.

John 14:26 says. “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative- that is, The Holy Spirit- he will teach you everything I have told you. “

GOD talks thru an Audible voice.

Matthew 3:17 says. “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly Loved son, who brings me great joy.” Exodus 3:4 says. “When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a closer look, GOD called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied.”

1 Kings 19:11-13 says, “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah.”

As I read through these scriptures it makes me feel close to GOD. It gives me great comfort knowing that GOD has many different ways to talk to me.

For me 1 Kings 19:11-13 when GOD talks in a whisper to Elijah is the most intimate way that GOD talks to us

My question for me and the world is. Am I talking with GOD and am I listening and watching for GOD to talk to me?

My prayer is. OH, Heavenly Father, I am confident that you hear me when I pray. I know you will talk to me. My prayer for the world is that everyone will listen for you. I pray everyone will feel your intimate voice, whichever way they hear your voice.
